2. Purpose of the Deposit:
The deposit is taken in good faith to secure the vehicle and compensate Carzone UK for genuine losses - including administrative time, advertising disruption, and loss of potential buyers - incurred by withdrawing the vehicle from sale.

3. Fair Treatment Under Consumer Law:
This policy complies with the Consumer Rights Act 2015, which permits traders to retain a deposit where it reflects a fair and reasonable estimate of loss, and is not applied as a penalty.

4. FCA Consumer Duty Compliance:
Carzone UK operates under the FCA's Consumer Duty, ensuring all customers are treated fairly, provided with clear information, and able to make informed decisions. The terms of this deposit policy are disclosed transparently prior to payment.

5. Refund Exceptions:
A full refund will be issued if the vehicle is later found to be not as described, unavailable through no fault of the customer, or if Carzone UK cancels the sale for any reason. Refunds will be processed within 5 working days where applicable.
